Agents of Change Workshop

This workshop will strengthen students’ engagement and commitment to create change, both at their school and in a larger global context. Through concepts like active citizenship and democracy, we will help students reflect on what they want to change in the world. Through different exercises their reflections will be linked to global change and help students understand that even small changes can make a big difference.

We believe that engagement in the local community can lead to global changes, where collaboration and social justice go hand in hand. We will examine where democracy comes from; How it emerges in today’s world on a global scale and impacts students’ everyday life.

By using interactive games, group work and brainstorming exercises, students are given the opportunity to reflect on the many aspects of democracy and active citizenship, to discuss whether democracy is still needed today, and to share their thoughts and ideas with their classmates.

Target Group: We offer this workshop to students between the ages 12-20. We will adapt the exercises and activities to the specific age group. This is also a great workshop targeted at student councils. We offer this workshop for free to public schools in Copenhagen Municipality through Åben Skole, this offer is available until June 2025. • We will, together with the students, develop a plan for their own concrete solution to create sustainable change in the world – with engagement from the rest of the school.
  • Students will gain knowledge of their innate rights and the tools to become active citizens in a globalized society.
  • Students will experience the value of dialogue and having all voices heard, while practicing using their own voice for change
  • Students will explore different types of decision-making processes and will get a personal experience of how democracy works.

The workshop is funded by Copenhagen Municipality’s Åben Skole Program.
